Select the last Livingston Daily Athlete in Week 2021-22

Posted on

This, the Livingston Daily Athlete of the Week poll last school year 2021-22.

Hopefully, this isn’t the last week of the high school sports calendar for the Livingston County team. I’m happy that the high school sports year was extended to last week by a team (s) that could make it all the way to the final day of June 18 at Michigan State University.

We won’t have a softball team, because the county doesn’t have a district champion for the first time since 2007. We have three baseball teams (Brighton, Charyl Stockwell, Hartland) and one football team (Hartland) still vying to reach MSU.

The district also has three lacrosse teams (both the Hartland team and the Brighton girls) still playing in Wednesday’s state semifinals to take on the state championships this Saturday. Brighton will compete in the state golf tournament this Saturday.

At this point, you know the training: Choose early, choose often.

Voting closes at 3 p.m. Wednesday. Refresh your browser if the poll is not immediately visible.

Riley Hough, Hartland track and field

Hough won the 1,600 -meter run and took second in 3,200 in Division 1 state encounters, giving him four state championships in cross -country and track. He ran 1,600 in 4: 07.61 and 3,200 in 9: 03.68.

Caleb Jarema, Pinckney track and field

Jarema scored 26 points in the state Division 2 meeting, winning the 3,200 -meter run after finishing second in the 3,200 and 1,600 relays. Jarema won 3,200 in 9: 17.36 and ran 4: 17.39 in 1,600. He led Pinckney to fifth place on the team.

Hannah Kastamo, Hartland football

Kastamo scored all three goals for Hartland in a 3-2 win against South Lyon in the district championship match. He also had his hands on two goals in the 2-1 win over Milford in the district semifinals, scoring one and setting up the other. He has 12 goals and four assists in 12 games after missing the first half of the season due to injury.

Bo Lockwood, lacrosse Hartland

Lockwood became the first Michigan male lacrosse player to reach the 200-point plateau twice while scoring seven goals and three assists in an 18-7 win against Grand Ledge in the state quarterfinals. He scored 236 points last season, breaking the 202 state record set by Jay Penske of Orchard Lake St. Louis. Mary’s in 1997. Lockwood has 92 goals and 115 assists this season.

Jack Storey, Brighton baseball

Storey’s two-run singles with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning gave Brighton a 5-4 victory over Howell in the Division 1 district championship game in East Lansing. Storey was 3-for-6 with four RBIs in two games Friday. He hit .419 with 11 RBIs in his last 31 at-bat.
