The First Round Of The 2022 Global Series Delivers Drama In SpadesDown to the wire: the first round of the 2022 Global Series delivers drama in spades!.

The critical phase of the MotoGP ™ eSport 2022 Championship resulted in two excellent races, both of which were decided in the final lap.

The MotoGP ™ eSport championship was revived with two dramatic races as the 2022 Global Series kicked off at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello during #ItalianGP.

For the sixth year in a row, the Global Series fights the fastest players from around the world in five rounds and ten races. Each finalist has been selected to represent one of the twelve MotoGP ™ teams currently battling to become the 2022 MotoGP ™ eSport Champion.

And based on Friday’s race, this year’s Global Series is not to be missed. Former champions adriaan_26 and AndreaSaveri11 fought in an epic battle in the first race of the year, while Trast73 and PieroRicciuti55, two stars of the 2021 series, battled for victory in the second.

The first round came straight from the magnificent Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello when Oakley’s Gran Premio d’Italia, with Gavin Emmett showcasing the event on the eSports stage, was built inside the track. Jack Appleyard and Jack Gorst of MotoGP ™ were on the comment assignment, and were joined by special guests for the action.

The First Round Of The 2022 Global Series Delivers Drama In SpadesAmerican Moto2 superstar ™ Cameron Beaubier was on hand to see the action in the single race, which was held at the Sachsenring in rainy conditions for ten laps. Shortly after winning the eighth MotoGP race, Maverick Viñales joined the team of commentators to give some unique insights into the two races, which were held around the stunning Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello in dry conditions, the race was run over eight laps.

The First Round Of The 2022 Global Series Delivers Drama In SpadesSuzuki ECSTAR eSports Team AndreaSaveri11 set pole position for both meetings on Thursday and there was drama from the first lap of the race. Adriaan_26 (Repsol Honda Team) jumped to be the early leader, when there were problems for Yamaha MotoGP Monster Energy competitors ™ Trast73 and Cristianmm17 (LCR Honda CASTROL eSports Team), who ran out of track on the first lap.

AndreaSaveri11 then began to put longtime leader Adriaan_26 under intense pressure, closing the rear tires. Despite trying to pass on one, Adriaan_26 just went on to win the absorbing contest by just 0.3s! The impressive Jack Hammer4658 (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) took the first podium in third, while Trast73 recovered for fourth.

And the drama doesn’t end there. Adriaan_26 crashed on the first lap of race two, while Trast73 claimed an early lead from AndreaSaveri11 and PieroRicciuti55 (Ducati Lenovo eSport Team), who were keen to atone for a crash in race one. PieroRicciuti55 was the fastest of the trio, and then closed out Trast73, who created a strong rhythm up front.

In the penultimate lap the Lenovo eSport Team’s Ducati drivers took the lead in one go, only for Trast73 to show exactly what it’s like to be the third winner in the series. The Yamaha man responded with a clever movement on turn five to take it back almost immediately, a space that would have held the flag in just 0.2 seconds! AndreaSaveri11 completed an excellent evening’s work with a third homecoming.

As a result of this absorbing action, the standings could not be approached after round one. Only eleven points covered the first five riders with Trast73 leading by 38 points. AndreaSaveri11 is just two points behind at 36 points, while Adriaan_26 (32 points), PieroRicciuti55 (28 points) and Jack Hammer4658 (27 points) are all right in the mix.
